Important Free School Meal Voucher Update
22/05/2020

The government have sent us an important update about Free School Meal vouchers. Free School Meals vouchers are for term time as the provision for free school meals is ordinarily term time only. If this changes, the Department for Education will update its guidance.

The DfE extended the support to the Easter holidays due to the unprecedented level of disruption and uncertainty for schools during implementation of the initial COVID-19 restrictions.

If, for example, a parent was given a £60 voucher for their child a fortnight before the holiday, this would cover provision for the two weeks before the holiday and the two weeks after. Parents will be able to redeem their vouchers and purchase food w/c 25 May providing they understand they are buying food for another period.
