Meet our Senior Leadership Team

Mrs Shanaz Hussain
Headteacher

Mrs Shanaz Hussain has held the position of Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since September 2020.

Mrs Hussain’s main areas of responsibility include overall Quality of Education including Teaching & Learning, Personal Development, Leadership & Management and Behaviour and Attitudes across school.

Mrs Hussain is BCHS’ Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead, she is also responsible for analysis of progress and attainment across all years. Additionally, Mrs Hussain is responsible for whole school attendance and is our main link with primary schools.

Until August 2020, Mrs Hussain was Deputy Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School and prior to that, an Assistant Headteacher of English for 4 years from 2010-2014 at Witton Park Academy.




Miss Yvonne Young
Deputy Headteacher

Ms Yvonne Young has held the position of Deputy Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since September 2020.


Ms Young is Senior Lead for Year 8. Ms Young’s main areas of responsibility are Curriculum & Assessment, GCSE options, Exams and Staff Appraisal.


Additionally, Ms Young is the Strategic Lead for School Operations, takes oversight of our Curriculum Model & Timetable and looks after Cover and Supply staff.


Ms Young is also a Teacher of Science.


Previously, Ms Young held the position of Assistant Headteacher at BCHS.



Mr Steve Archer
Deputy Headteacher

Mr Steve Archer has held the position of Deputy Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since September 2021.


Mr Archer is BCHS’ Strategic Lead for Behaviour. Mr Archer’s main areas of responsibility are Behaviour Strategy, including rewards, fair access, personalised timetables, remove, resolve and managed moves.


Mr Archer is also responsible for ‘Children in our Care’ reviews, and is Strategic Lead of Pastoral Managers and Heads of Year.


Mr Archer is also a Teacher of History





Mrs Tracy Reeves
Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Tracy Reeves has held the position of Assistant Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since September 2017.


Mrs Reeves is Senior Lead for Year 7. Mrs Reeves’ main areas of responsibility include transition for years 5, 6 and 7, summer school, parental engagement and enrichment.


Mrs Reeves is responsible for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), student career pathways, business and community links, and educational visits.


Mrs Reeves is also a Teacher of Science


Previously, Mrs Reeves was Lead Teacher for Learning and Teaching at another Blackburn High School and has worked in industry as a Chemical Analyst.








Mrs Hannah Sinclair
Assistant Headteacher


Mrs Sinclair is Senior Lead for Year 11. Mrs Sinclairs’s main areas of responsibility include Alignment of key stage 4 Maths and English, Pupils’ Personal Development, and homework.


Mrs Sinclair is BCHS’ Strategic Lead for raising achievement at key stage 4 and is also responsible for our Most Able programme.


Mrs Sinclair is also a Teacher of Religious Studies.






Miss Rebecca Wood
Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Rebecca Wood has held the position of Assistant Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since April 2022.

Mrs Wood is Senior Lead for Year 10. Mrs Wood's main areas of responsibility include Teaching and Learning and Strategic Lead for Disadvantaged Students.

Mrs Wood is also responsible for Staff Personal Development.

Mrs Wood is a Teacher of Science.

Previously, Mrs Wood worked as the Head of Science in a school in Longridge for 6 years.




Ms Zoe Pearce
School Improvement Coach

Ms Zoe Pearce has held the position of School Improvement Coach at Blackburn Central High School since November 2016 and is also Director of School Improvement across the Champion Education Trust.

Ms Pearce is responsible for quality assuring and developing BCHS’ teaching practices. She also works with the other members of the senior leadership team and heads of departments to ensure our school continues to be innovative and ensure that staff professional development is relevant and impactful.

Ms Pearce is an English Teacher with over 15 years of senior leadership experience in Secondary Education. She has led Training Schools, Teaching School Provision and has served as a Deputy Headteacher for over 8 years with responsibility for Quality of Education, Workforce Development and Key Stage 4 Achievement.









Miss Emma Cliffe
Associate Assistant Headteacher

Miss Emma Cliffe has held the position of Associate Assistant Headteacher at Blackburn Central High School since May 2022, but has been a part of the BCHS team since 2007.

Miss Cliffe's main areas of responsibility include overseeing pupil progress and achievement in Physical Education and Modern Foreign Languages.

Miss Cliffe is also responsible for staff and student well-being across the school. This includes overseeing our in-house student counselling service and working with the mental health in schools team.

Miss Cliffe is also a teacher of Physical Education.
