Shared Values with Shevington High School – updated

SMSC

A dozen students from Shevington High School in Wigan visited Blackburn Central High School as part of a Shared Values event.

EAL students related amazing stories about their lives in countries such as Spain, Romania, Kuwait, Albania, Bulgaria and Syria.

Students from both schools worked in teams to create art that represented both schools’ shared values. Team PEAR (Peace, Equality and Respect) created a united world with pictures of themselves around it with their likes, dislikes, and hopes for the future.

Students and staff at BCHS cooked an excellent array of foods from all over the world, so the Shared Values group could enjoy a lunch of Spanish paella, samosas, Syrian pastries, Hungarian biscuits, and Romanian stuffed peppers with exotic Syrian tea.

The Shared Values event was an great success, and a brilliant opportunity for BCHS and Shevington students to meet and learn about other cultures. Thank you to the staff and students of Shevington who joined us on the day, you were excellent guests.

Update: An amazing video and article from our friends at Shevington High School about the day.
