Your library, your choice!

Library visit to Waterstones

We’re huge advocates of reading, plus the joy and pleasure it can bring. In the library we offer so much more to our children than simply a place to choose a book.

Our students use the library for homework, for quiet reflection, and also as somewhere they can talk to members of staff about any worries they may have. There is always a friendly face happy to help!

We’ve hosted a Willy Wonka afternoon tea for some very special golden ticket winners, as well as celebrating Roald Dahl Day in the best way we know how… with an array of delicious treats.

We took several students to Waterstones book shop in Preston for World Book Day; our children particularly enjoyed choosing a variety of books for their library including: mystery fiction, romance novels and fantasy.

The children have had a huge input in to what they see in their library this year; which means we now have a whole range of engaging reads, some of which include gaming and vlogging books.

One of our newest ventures, which we are extremely excited about, is YOUR Club, an after school enrichment group for Year 7 and 8. Students are invited to have fun with staff and their peers, develop new friendships, and learn new skills.

Our students have been very busy this term and have loved having the opportunity to choose what we do. You don’t have to take our word for it, as our students have written their own article, which they’d love you to read.

The library team would like to wish all our families a wonderful, fun-filled summer. For those families joining us in September we can’t wait to welcome you to the Blackburn Central High School library.
