As we begin 2019 with a fresh, clean page in front of us, I would like to share some thoughts with every student, parent, carer, Governor and member of our community about the importance of dreaming big as a way to power our efforts and set high expectations for what the New Year will bring.
As all of our students know, I want them to dream big; to think carefully about the life, career and future they would like to create, and to focus on that goal as a way to inspire hard work and celebration of each milestone.
The New Year is a great time for setting intentions and we will be focusing on preparing all students for the term ahead, this means:
- Being in school every day, on time
- Working hard in lessons
- Being resilient when things get tough
- Asking for help when you need it
- Being a good citizen within our community
I will be sharing my dreams for 2019 with students in school and hope that our parents and carers can talk to their children about what they wish for in the future: what they love doing, what skills they are proud of, what they are enjoying most at school and what they can do to help them reach their goals.
I firmly believe that no goal is too high, that every single one of us can achieve our dreams, it is just a case of deciding what we want, knowing how to get there and working a little bit every day towards it.
So I ask parents, teachers, members of the community to share their dreams with each other. This might be forgotten dreams of our youth or current dreams for our lives, but if we all talk about what we are aiming for, then we will be a step closer to achieving them.
I wish everyone a happy new year, a successful term ahead and know that with the support of each other we can and will make our dreams come true.
