The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration

Queen's Birthday

Students and staff at Blackburn Central High School with Crosshill hung out the bunting to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday for a week, ending with a Friday afternoon tea and retro school yard games such as elastics, skipping, hopscotch, and hula hoops. Thanks to the hard work of the EAL and SEN departments, along with Mr McCrone from Food Technology, our students enjoyed a freshly prepared afternoon tea of triangle sandwiches, followed by jam and cream scones, whilst listening to music popular from when Queen Elizabeth II was their age.

The SEN area had been decorated for the occasion with bunting and union jack flags, and tables laid with red and blue napkins and white paper doilies.

The students had a great time, chatting excitedly, and enjoying afternoon tea with their friends from both Blackburn Central High School and Crosshill, then wished her Majesty happy birthday from everybody at BCHS with Crosshill.
