Kane, Leo and Kallum, all students from Blackburn Central High School, are the stars of Landsharks, a short film by award-winning Blackburn filmmaker Aaron Dunleavy.
The 15 minute film was commissioned by Stop Loan Sharks to raise awareness about important issues surrounding illegal money lending and the dangers of loan sharks.
It follows the life of a teenage boy, AJ, whose mum is struggling to make ends meet. AJ falls in with the wrong crowd and turns to a loan shark for money.
Aaron’s films explore stories of working class youth; with unscripted and improvised performances, street casting and non-professional young actors at the core of his filmmaking approach.
