The Royal Academy of Engineering hosted some of our Year 7 and 9 students, at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, for two days of engineering workshops.
Over the two days our students learnt how to use the computer-aided design program Sketch Up, to design and print their own 3D models.
This is something the students have been working on during their IT and Product Design lessons at Blackburn Central High School, so these workshop help to reinforce their knowledge.
During the workshops our students also competed in a spaghetti and marshmallow structure building competition, where they managed to build one of the largest structures seen in the workshops.
Our students worked hard and enjoyed the experience, and looking forward to taking part in more science workshops next term.
