Ramadan overlaps with the GCSE examinations beginning Monday 13th May 2019. Fasting commence 5th or 6th May 2019, and Eid al-Fitr will take place on 5th or 6th June 2019.
Blackburn Central will be shut during Eid al-Fitr, except for Year 11 students sitting the following GCSE examinations:
Geography and Spanish Writing GCSE exams must be administered on Wednesday 5th June, and Maths and History exams must be administered on Thursday 6th June. One of these days will coincide with the celebrations for Eid-al-Fitr.
We appreciate this is a very special time in the Muslim calendar, and for that reason we have made arrangements for the Eid prayers to be performed at school by a local Imam.
Following the prayers all students will be provided with a special Eid breakfast.
I must stress the importance of attending all exams, any Year 11 student not present for their examination will fail it.
Should you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact Associate Headteacher, Mrs Shanaz Hussain.
