Mr Burns - HLTA

Mr Burns said: "I am fasting today to support my Muslim friends at school and at Judo to show them that I care and respect their views. It will also give me an understanding of how the Muslim community feels throughout the month of Ramadan"

Update: "It’s been difficult especially not having water, I’ve fasted quite a few times for 12 /18 and even 24 hours but always had water or coffee. It has been difficult especially when making the childrens' breakfast"

"Dinner time was a treat for my foster children at KFC and that was really hard. To be honest it’s been harder than I thought"

Miss Leake - Learning Support Assistant

Miss Leake said: “What tremendous willpower from our students who have done this for 17 days now! We find it very humbling that these teenagers are able to fast after late nights and still come in and get through each day with a smile”

Update: “To be honest it’s been ok, this morning was hard because it was hot while we were walking and I could have drank loads of water, but I didn’t give in! I’m getting tired now as I was up at around 3ish”

Mr Hamil - Access Leader for KS4

Mr Hamil Said: "I wanted to do this just as I did last year to support a majority of our students who are fasting and spending time in prayer during this month. It gives me an insight into what they are going through each day during Ramadan and how difficult it can be to go without food and most importantly water while still being expected to come to school and engage in lessons"
