From Monday 21st September, we will only offer grab bags (sandwich, drink and snack) during school lunch. Despite our best efforts to offer a hot meal at lunchtime, we are unable to do so whilst ensuring social distancing measures between year groups are maintained. Year 7, 9, and 10 students should return to school on Tuesday 22nd September. Students from Progress Group 8E should return on 23rd September.

Primary Transition Project

A Big BCHS Welcome to Year 6!

The transition to secondary school is a big moment for any child but during these unprecedented times, pupils may feel anxious or unsure about what is to come on their journey to Blackburn Central High School. The following resources have been created to prepare Year 6 pupils for the transition to secondary school.

The resources (below) are part of the ‘Be Awesome, Go Big’package, a project from PiXL Club and Hachette Children’s Group, to help Year 6 students transition into Year 7. It can be used by students and parents at home or in school with teachers in class and is designed to be motivational, helpful and reassuring to help young people feel valued, loved, encouraged and equipped for the journey ahead.

These resources are only to help and guide your child. They do not have to complete all of the tasks, but if they wish, they can work through each interactive lesson, recording their answers in the accompanying workbook. A copy of the workbook has been posted home to each of our new Year 7 students. Please enjoy working your way through these resources.

This introductory video explains the project in more detail.

There are also guides for parents and carers which can be downloaded from here.

Children should work through each interactive lesson, recording their answers in the accompanying workbook.

The workbooks which accompany the sessions can be found below. You can either use the copy posted home to you or type your responses into the editable version (requires Microsoft Powerpoint).
