From Monday 21st September, we will only offer grab bags (sandwich, drink and snack) during school lunch. Despite our best efforts to offer a hot meal at lunchtime, we are unable to do so whilst ensuring social distancing measures between year groups are maintained. Year 7, 9, and 10 students should return to school on Tuesday 22nd September. Students from Progress Group 8E should return on 23rd September.

Pleased to Meet You

I know that for some of you, starting secondary school is a really exciting adventure, and for others it can be quite a nervous time. At Blackburn Central High School, we will do whatever it takes to settle you into Year 7.

I will be your Pastoral Manager. I have been a Pastoral Manager since 2005 and have lots of experience in helping students make the transition from primary to secondary school.

I will help you with many things, such as: settling in, calling parents if needed, your wellbeing, if you are unwell, or unhappy about anything, I'm your first point of contact. I'm happy to meet your parents or carers, if necessary.

I work with Mr Bridges, who will be your Achievement Lead, and he will oversee all the work you do in school, making sure your lessons are just right for you.

Mrs Bowker, is the Assistant Head who works with us. She will make sure everything is in place for you when you start here and all through Year 7.

We will make sure we collect any important information sent to us from your primary school, before you come to us, so we know how to best look after you and settle you in.

There are lots of ways we will look after you, and welcome you into your first year Blackburn Central High School.

Look out for students in Year 8, wearing "Buddy" badges. These students have been carefully chosen, and they will help you if you have a problem, for example, if you're lost, don't know where to go, or who to speak to about something. They will point you in the right direction, and they will also understand how you are feeling as a new Year 7. They know how it is and will support you.

As well as buddies, we have Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Lead Students; they are older students, and very helpful.

We are also very proud of our charity and community work and I hope that you will join in and help.

We have loads of clubs after school that we hope you'll join - there is even a homework club if you get stuck!

Our staff are excited to meet you and to get to know you too!
