School Closure for Year 7 Students from 9th September 2020
08/09/2020

After such a positive start to the academic year, it is with a heavy heart that I am now having to write to you. This afternoon we received confirmation that one of our Year 7 students has tested positive for COVID-19. As a precautionary measure and following advice from Public Health England North West, we have been advised to ask all of our Year 7 students to self-isolate for a period of 14 days which means a return to school on 22nd September 2020.

We have adhered to all the guidelines from Public Health England and Blackburn with Darwen Local Authority. We have a robust risk assessment in place. This is a precautionary measure ensuring the safety of all pupils.

As per government guidelines, school will be open as normal for Years 8, 9, 10 and 11.

Our Year 7 students need to access learning from home and should not return until Tuesday 22nd September.

Lessons for Year 7 will take place on Google classroom as we have operated previously. I am conscious our Year 7 pupils will not have access to their Google Classroom Passwords. These will be sent out by post along with instructions on how to access the online platform on Wednesday 9th September. Google Classroom can be accessed on any electronic device with an internet connection. Anyone having difficulty with this should contact school.

If you have any questions or concerns about this partial, temporary closure, please contact me at your convenience.

I can only apologise for this significant disruption.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Hussain
