Lancashire Cricket Cup – Second Round Win

Lancashire Cricket Cup 2nd round

Our Under15’s boys cricket team played against Darwen Vale High School’s team in the second round of the Lancashire Cup yesterday.

After winning the toss, Blackburn Central decided to bowl first. A. Bhamji picked up 2 quick wickets in the first 3 overs bowling both Darwen Vale openers out cheaply.

Some tight bowling from J.Waris and U.Riaz then had Vale 25 for 5 after 10 overs. By the end of the first innings Darwen Vale finished on 45 for 9.

Some excellent batting from openers S.Arif (15) and J.Waris (13) saw Blackburn Central race to 28 for 0. Two quick wickets meant that A.Bhamji (14 n.o) came in to win the game after 10 overs.

This was an excellent all round effort by the team, who are now into the 3rd round, the furthest Blackburn Central High School have previously gone in the Lancashire Cricket Cup.

The Under15’s team will now play Lancaster Royal Grammar School the week commencing 10th June 2019.

Thanks for those staff members who came to support the team.
