At the start of this year Blackburn Central High School were licensed to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
This has allowed staff to deliver the Awards in a more tailored way, which are better suited to our students.
As part of their Award students complete four sections: Physical, Skill, Volunteering and Expedition.
As well as being a lot of fun and very rewarding, the Award is recognised by most major employers and education establishments.
My experience completing the Bronze Award, has been extremely beneficial and rewarding, although challenging at times. It has helped me develop skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience.
These skills were acquired with the support of my DofE leaders, Mr Donaldson, Miss Sturgess and also my teammates.
The activities I took part in, especially the expedition, were fun and I am looking forward to completing my Silver Award at college.
If you’d like to take part in the Award scheme speak to Mr Donaldson, or Miss Sturgess in school.
