Junior Mathematical Challenge

Thursday saw Year 7 and 8 students taking part in the Junior Mathematical Challenge at Blackburn Central High School.

The Junior Challenge is the UK’s most popular mathematics competition with over 300,000 students taking part each year, and aims to stimulate mathematical problem solving.

To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge the top-scoring 40% of participants are awarded bronze, silver and gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1.

In addition around 1200 of the very highest performers are invited to take part in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad and around 8,000 to take part in the Junior Kangaroo.
