In the wake of the terrible Grenfell Tower tragedy in London recently, students from BCHS went to local Blackburn charity, Al–Imdaad, to help pack food and gift parcels for there and the local community in Blackburn.
Diane Atkinson, Headteacher at BCHS with Crosshill explained “We have a very strong ethos of community, sharing and compassion that runs right through our own school community. It was our students who asked if they could do something to help, particularly after Grenfell Tower. I am often amazed, but not surprised by, the hands – on, practical ways that our students are happy to roll up their sleeves, quite literally, to help others.”
John, Jorge, Precious and Tara visited the offices of Al-Imdaad, based in Audley, along with Miriam Rathore, Pastoral Manager and Community Lead. After helping there, they were given boxes of chocolate to distribute amongst their neighbours, as belated Eid gifts.
