At the end of last term a group of Year 9 and 10 students from Blackburn Central High School visited Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London to help them prepare for their English Literature GCSEs.
On the first day of the trip our students paid a visit to the Globe Theatre where they were given a tour and had the opportunity to ask questions about Shakespeare and the Globe Theatre.
The guide was very knowledgeable and helped the students achieve a better understanding of the play Macbeth, which they will be studying for their GCSEs in Years 10 and 11.
During the evening the students enjoyed a walking tour, seeing famous landmarks such as The Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street and Nelson’s Column.
During the second day our students stopped off on the way home to learn about the movie magic behind Harry Potter, with a visit to the Harry Potter Experience at the Warner Brothers Studio tour.
The students explored the different sets from the movies such as the Great Hall, and Privet Drive; they also got to practice their acting and broomstick flying skills in front of a green screen.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the opportunity to experience literature outside of the classroom.
