Global Entrepreneurship Week

Students studying business at Blackburn Central High School are attending An inspirational Event to Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week. It has been arranged by HIVE Business School and KPMG, and hosted by Blackburn College, on Monday 13th November 2017.

This will be a great opportunity for our students to listen to a number of young inspirational entrepreneurs, many of who have developed their own businesses.

The event is aimed at highlighting the spirit of enterprise and to celebrate the benefit entrepreneurs bring to the area. The event will also help identify entrepreneurial qualities that are also key employability skills.

Speakers include:

Jacob Knowles, started his own business, Empine Printing, just over 18 months ago. Recently, Jacob has extended his business into new markets with Empine Education, a service dedicated to printing personalised educational materials, such as exercise books and prospectuses.

Dom McGregor, co-founded Social Chain in 2014 still a student.  Its turnover more than quadrupled to £8 million. In the UK, the agency works with clients including Spotify, Puma, BBC and Universal Pictures and recently acquired viral gaming portfolio Devise in a multimillion-pound deal.

Katy Leeson, was promoted to Managing Director of Social Chain, eight months after joining the Manchester agency. In a short space of time she has been a key driver in implementing new initiatives, not only in work but also into the internal culture of the business.

Adam Soliman, came up with the idea for Charbrew when he was frustrated at the variety of teas on offer and opened the tea importer and blender. He now supplies 20 major retailers including Sainsbury’s, Booths and TK Maxx.
