Last year students from Blackburn Central High School raised £1340 towards water pumps in Sri Lanka.
Al-Imdaad Foundation UK is an Audley-based charity, provides local, national and international relief to those who need it, regardless of race, gender or belief.
We are very pleased to be able to support this amazing charity, and that the money raised has been put to excellent use.
Five villages in Sri Lanka now have fresh, clean, water for the first time thanks to the installation of five water hand pumps.
In additional to the pumps, Al-Imdaad, on behalf of Blackburn Central students, purchased two sewing machines, that will allow women to make a living in poorer countries.
Locally, the funds also paid for three wheelchairs for elderly care homes, and provided 50 meals for homeless, unwaged or low-income families within Blackburn with Darwen.
