The Blackburn Central High School Charity Champions recently raised £235 for Islamic Relief.
Islamic Relief support international, national and local projects. They’ve raised aid for emergencies for 30 years, and provide a lifeline for vulnerable communities affected by disaster or poverty. They are the latest group supported by our students and the first for our newly-formed Charity Champions.
The Charity Champions are students in years 7 to 9. They are a focus group who help raise funds for the charities we support. Many of our fundraising ideas come from our students. In helping raise awareness and funds for local charities, our students are also able to add this voluntary work to their record of achievement and will help when they are applying to college or university.
Our students raised this money by selling henna tattoos, cakes and biryani, at break and lunchtimes.
