Blackburn Central High School will remain open as normal on Friday 15th June 2018 due to Eid al-Fitr falling during the examination season.

The Physics and Combined Science GCSE examination must be administered on 15th June 2018 which may coincide with the celebrations for Eid al-Fitr.

All Year 11 students will be sitting their GCSE Physics or Combined Science exam on the morning of 15th June so must attend school as these examinations can not be rescheduled.

These exams should finish by 11:00am and at that time students will be able to come home and begin celebrations.

We appreciate that this is a very special time in the Muslim calendar, and for that reason we have made arrangements for the Eid prayers to be performed at school by one of our local Imams.

Following the prayers all students will be provided with a special Eid breakfast.

Eid prayers will be performed at 8:00am; please notify school if your child would like to participate in these prayers. We fully appreciate and understand how important this is and your prior notification will ensure that we have made all the necessary arrangements.

We will also run booster sessions from 7:30am to help students prepare for their exams.

I must stress the importance of attending the exam, any Year 11 student not present for the GCSE Physics/Combined Science examination will fail their Physics/Combined Science GCSE and this will be recorded as a U on their certificate.

Should you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact my Deputies Mrs Hussain, Mr Braithwaite, or myself Mrs Atkinson.
