The staff at BCHS with Crosshill have been running the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme for a number of years. About 30 students each year have completed their Bronze, and more recently their Silver Awards.

We are proud to announce that Blackburn Central High School is now a licensed Duke of Edinburgh Centre.

DofE Award

Our staff are committed to providing students with greater access to both the Bronze and Silver DofE Awards. We believe the experience prepares our students for further education, work, and adulthood; plus it also helps to create better citizens. A DofE Award is valued by employers and universities.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has helped countless young people on their sometimes difficult path to adulthood.” HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

For the past seventy years, The Duke of Edinburgh charity has inspired and transformed the lives of millions of young people from all walks of life.

Achieving a DofE Award can be life-changing; it’s an adventure and a fun challenge, with three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a range of activities.

Millions of young people have already taken part, pushed personal boundaries, gained new skills, and enhanced their CVs and college/university/job applications.

The benefits of achieving a DofE Award also include helping young people grow in confidence and develop useful skills. Meeting new people and new friendships is also a bonus.

If you’d like take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme please speak to Mr Donaldson, or Miss Sturgess in school.
