Last week writers from the popular TV show, Ackley Bridge, spent a day researching for the next series of the hit Channel 4 program at Blackburn Central High School.
Ackley Bridge is a British television drama set in the fictional school and Yorkshire mill town of the same name. It highlights the lives of staff and students at the multi-cultural academy school.
The series follows the merger of two schools in a segregated British and Pakistani community; exploring the school experience, the challenges of prejudice and cultural issues in the school environment. As well as the humour, relationships and conflict had by the students, teachers and parents.
Series writer, Jess Barnes of Forge Entertainment said:
“We were thrilled to spend time at BCHS. It was fascinating to be in such a diverse, multi-cultural school. What we took away from the visit was the family feel of the school and the dedication of the staff.”
This is the second visit from the Ackley Bridge team, and as a thank you they have invited our Drama students to visit the set and meet the cast and crew during filming next year.
The first two season of Ackley Bridge are available to watch on the Channel 4 website.
