Blackburn Central High School supported National Grandparents’ Day again this year, with a special Saturday morning for our more mature relatives.
Grandparents’ Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in October, after being introduced to the UK in 1990 by the Age Concern charity.
Our students invited older members of their families into school, to have a chat over cups of tea and slices of cake. The Grandparents were also given tours of the school by Lead Students, and staff were on hand to answer any questions.
These are just some of the positive comments we received:
“I remember sitting in class, with rows and rows of desks, and it was so boring.”
“Wow! It’s all so open, airy and exciting! So full of light.”
“Here, there are so many opportunities for the students.”
“I’m so glad that you all recycle too.”
Thank you to everybody who joined Blackburn Central High School for this day of celebration.
